Who Am I Without My Masks?

Who Am I Without My Masks?

Diving below the surface of self.

Who am I when I put aside the masks that have supported me for as long as I can remember?  Who am I when all my personalities dissolve?

Sometimes, in certain situations, life invites me to simply be a girl—seeking support, asking for help, wanting to feel embraced. And there are times, around other people, that I want to be a warrior, self-sufficient, independent. I want to be seen as a grown woman. In these contrasting versions of my life, I ask myself, “Who am I, if what defines the mask I choose is the person or the moment in front of me?”

HOW TO HONOR YOUR JOURNEY THROUGH LIFE

Giving Meaning, Depth, and Motivation to Your Experience

“Life: an experience of existence through the timeline of you being alive in this form.”

~ Misty, SSS

The experience of life is vast; a plethora of emotions, events, and simple observations. We all walk unique paths in life, leading us through many triumphs, hardships, and awakenings. At times life feels like riding a high, as if you’ve just surfed your first wave. At other times, life feels exhausting, and our motivation can burn out. These are usually the times we begin to wonder why we are even here.

How to Exit Jaded States and Claim Sovereignty Over Your Experiences

Exploring how our perception of life may be rooted in hidden jaded beliefs, and how to reclaim sovereignty.

We’ve all been through some pretty rough situations in life, right? Sometimes these experiences even repeat in similar nature, really wearing us down. Why does this keep happening? we think. THE NATURE OF eXPANSION & gROWTH

THE NATURE OF eXPANSION & gROWTH

Human beings are by nature always expanding and contracting. With each inhalation, we feel our bodies expand, and with each exhalation, we feel a slight contraction. We ebb and flow with our breath, our emotions, and our environments. When we are cold, we tend to tense up, and warmth relaxes our joints and muscles. In times of stress, we contract and when relaxed, we open up.

Noticing this natural flow within us all can be very insightful if we pay close attention. We can even use the flow of expansion and contraction intentionally to grow and experience life in different ways. For example, if you notice that you often contract and tighten your body and state of being when in groups of people, you can trace that to its source. Why do I close off near others? Maybe I’m afraid. Why am I afraid? This simple noticing and curiosity puts you in a position where you now have a choice.

A Networking Opportunity for Women

Here at Sovereign Sisters’ Society, we cultivate a sacred space for sisterhood, self-growth, and accountability. One other very valuable opportunity that comes along with being part of this wonderful tribe of women is the opportunity to network. Often we go on with our individual lives, not making the time or space for networking, and we are missing out big time! The opportunity, creativity, relationships, and collaborations that can stem from networking are profound!

As an entrepreneur myself, I have made it a regular practice to network with women. I always keep an ear out and eye out on how I can help, inspire, connect, or collaborate with another woman. It has been such a healthy and rewarding practice for me and it’s helping me define who I am and what I have to offer.

TIME IS NOT EARNED, TIME IS YOURS

. . . What Clarissa speaks to in the above quote hits me deeply, as a woman, wife, and mother. I love and take pride in keeping a clean home, in keeping fresh-baked bread on the table, and in caring for my family. Many of us do, and this is one of our many incredible nurturing qualities as women. It’s important to fill our roles, and important to keep a tidy home. But it is not more important than filling our passions, creativity, and time for expression.

THE MAGIC OF SISTERHOOD

Let’s talk about sisterhood.

Sisterhood goes beyond family. We are extremely lucky if we have a blood sister who we can deeply relate to, but even if our biological family doesn’t include a sister like that, we have the capability to seek out and invest in friendships with other women. When we do this with intention and cultivate a relationship of respect, accountability, deep listening, and an ongoing friendship, we find ourselves in a sisterhood!

There are many benefits to true sisterhood……..

REMAINING PRESENT WHEN THINGS GET TOUGH

It’s natural to feel alone when trying to endure tough times. Whenever that happens, try to remain present for yourself. You are in control, and you deserve the space to nurture yourself in tough moments, without the pressure to react or respond immediately. Give acceptance, love, and presence to yourself in times of deep feeling, when you need it most.

Stimulating Self Growth and Avoiding Burnout

Though many of us walk different paths, isn’t self-growth what we all seek at the end of them? We are pursuing our dream lives, seeking to heal and lose the shame we carry about our weaknesses, seeking to feel good enough—or better yet, to feel great about ourselves. In our hearts, we want to develop into the best people we can be.

However, we have to acknowledge that in order to grow in the ways we truly need and desire, and in order to really make long-lasting shifts in our lives, it’s essential to purposefully stimulate self-growth.

How to ask for what you need, and how to receive

Asking for what we need seems pretty straight forward right? Well, you wouldn’t imagine how many times we sabotage ourselves from getting our needs met by asking in the wrong ways.
